Swimmers Diving into water at Thetis Lake in preparation for SwimRun Victoria 2018

SwimRun Victoria

Human Powered Racing is excited to announce a new multisport event, SwimRun Victoria taking place August 12, 2018 at beautiful Thetis Lake Park in Victoria.

SwimRun Victoria is the first swim run event in Western Canada. The exciting new multisport race format of SwimRun has a huge following in Europe since the first swim run event, Otillo SwimRun, was hosted in Sweden in 2006. It has been gaining popularity around the globe ever since. In 2016 there were 102 swim run races in 17 nations.

In 2018 SwimRun is coming to Victoria. The exciting, fast-growing sport of SwimRun includes split segments of open-water swimming and trail running. Athletes swim in their running shoes and run in their swim gear.

In 2018 beautiful Thetis Lake Regional Park is the home of the only SwimRun event in Western Canada, making its debut on August 12th. While many SwimRun races involve frigid ocean swims, this freshwater SwimRun event is accessible to athletes without specialized equipment, yet will still be thoroughly challenging for all hardcore adventure seekers!

The course covers a range of terrain from flowing trails to steep climbs and plunging descents. This course will challenge your limits.

The challenging full course consists of 4 swim legs totaling approximately 4000m and 4 run legs totaling approximately 24K. The short course consists of 2 swim legs totaling approximately 1800m and 2 run legs totaling approximately 10K. Participants may compete as individuals or as 2 person teams. Teams can be any gender combination.

“We are excited to be hosting the first race of its kind in Western Canada and to be able to showcase the beauty and ruggedness of Southern Vancouver Island.” said Human Powered Racing’s Mike Neill. “The Thetis Lake Course will offer something to athletes of all levels and will challenge even the most seasoned adventure seeker.
