A LOT Happening at HPR!

This past couple of weeks have once again been busy for Human Powered Racing with athletes training and racing across the province.

A week ago, 3 of our athletes raced a great Half Marathon right in their backyards. Sandy Wilson, April Vesey and Nadine Naughton all took park in the Oak Bay Half Marathon on a beautiful sunny day. Sandy finished 5th in her age group with a time of 1:46. Nadine and April pushed one another and finished in a time of 2:07.

While these three were racing, a strong contingent of athletes were putting in some big miles in Penticton. After a couple of years with cool, rainy weather at our spring training camp, this year brought sunny sky’s and very warm temperatures to the Okanagan. This made for some amazing riding and some very good (or bad) bike tans.

This past weekend was also a busy one on the home front with Jay Krieger, Jay Watson, Mark Hopkins, Thom Brennan and Carole Richer racing the Victoria 70.3. On a cool, sunny day our athletes went on to have great races on a tough course with some tough competition. This race was a real stepping stone for our athletes who are preparing for bigger races later in the summer.

Also racing this past Saturday was Kara Hobby. Kara was racing the Oliver Sprint triathlon and placed 3rd overall and 1st in her age group. Scoring herself a nice bottle of wine in the process. Motivation comes in many forms!!!
